Te Puia

Te Puia is an ancient Māori village dating back to around 1325, that is located in the Te Whakarewarewa geothermal area on the North Island of New Zealand. Te Puia features several active geysers and mud pools, and a Māori village and cultural center that showcases traditional Māori arts and crafts. There are several types of tours available at the site. During the day, visitors can choose from the Te Rā Guided Experience, which covers the key hot springs, mud baths and other geothermal sites at the location, or the Te Rā + Haka experience, which also includes a cultural performance in the beautifully carved meeting house, Te Aronui a Rua, which includes a Pōhiri (Traditional Māori Welcome), Waiata (Song), Mōteatea (traditional chant), Poi and Haka. There are also two night tour options. The first, Geysers by Night, is a guided walking tour through the geothermal valley at night. The second, the Te Pō experience also includes a traditional buffet dinner and a cultural show, similar to the Haka show during the day.
