Upper Geyser Basin

Home to Old Faithful and several other geysers, the Upper Geyser Basin is a beautiful area with a 4.2 mile walking trail that goes past many geysers and hot springs. The most famous sights in the Basin other than Old Faithful are the Morning Glory Pool, and the Castle, Daisy and Grotto Geysers. The Morning Glory Pool is particularly spectacular, with a range of orange and yellow hues, and sparkling blue water created by thermophilic bacteria, which thrive in the pool’s searing heat. Unfortunately, it is now often referred to as ‘Fading Glory,’ because it is losing its colors due to all the objects thrown in it by visitors.
