Gran Vía

Gran Vía, often referred to as the “Spanish Broadway,” is one of the most famous and vibrant streets in Madrid. A bustling thoroughfare that stretches for approximately 1.3 kilometers (0.8 miles) through the heart of the city, the Gran Vía is known for its eclectic mix of architectural styles including neoclassical, art deco, and modernist designs. One of the iconic buildings on the street is the Edificio Telefónica (Telefónica Building), an art deco masterpiece that was once the tallest skyscraper in Europe when it was completed in the 1920s.

The Gran Vía is lined with a wide array of shops, boutiques, cinemas, restaurants, and cafes, and is also home to several theaters including the Teatro Lope de Vega, Teatro Coliseum, and Teatro Rialto, where tourists can catch a variety of live shows.
