Park Güell

Built from 1900 to 1914, Park Güell is a public park located on Carmel Hill, and one of the most famous works by the Catalan modernist architect Antoni Gaudí. The Park reflects Gaudi’s naturalist phase when he was inspired by organic shapes. It has two separate areas. One is free for visitors, and the other (called the monumental area) requires a ticket.

Some of the most famous works in the park include the main entrance on Carrer d’Olot, with a spectacular stairway and iron gates designed in the shape of palm leaves, the two pavilions that form the porter’s lodge or Casa del Guarda, and the salamander or dragon in the center of the staircase, covered with colorful ceramics.
