Pike Place Market

One of the most famous sights in Seattle, the Pike Place Market is a farmer’s market that opened in 1907, making it the oldest continuously operated farmer’s market in the United States. Built on the edge of a steep hill, overlooking Elliott Bay, the Market has several levels with a variety of shops ranging from fresh seafood and produce stands on the upper levels to antique dealers to comic book and collectible shops, and family owned restaurants on the lower levels. One of the most famous sights is the Pike Place Fish Market, where fishmongers throw fish purchased by customers before wrapping it.
