Space Needle
The icon of Seattle, and the Pacific Northwest, the Space Needle, constructed for the 1962 World’s Fair, is an observation tower with a height of 605 ft and width of 138 ft. The observation deck, 520 ft above ground, offers spellbinding views of downtown Seattle, Puget Sound and its various islands, Lake Union, Mount Rainier, and the Cascade Mountains. Visitors can reach the observation tower via elevators in a trip that lasts about 41 seconds. There is an open-air outdoor deck where visitors can have drinks while watching the sunset, and a lounge called the Loupe Lounge, which has a revolving glass floor.
