Tsukiji Honganji Temple

Tsukiji Honganji Temple is a prominent Jodo Shinshu Buddhist temple located in the Tsukiji district of Tokyo. The Temple was founded in 1617 in the Nihonbashi district of Tokyo but was later moved to its current location in Tsukiji in 1934. The temple’s main hall was completed in 1939.

The architecture of Tsukiji Honganji is a striking blend of traditional Japanese and Indian Buddhist styles. The main hall features a unique and distinctive design influenced by Indian and other international architectural elements. It is one of the largest wooden structures in Tokyo.
