Samana Peninsula

The Samana Peninsula, in the northeast of the country, is 63 km long and 10 to 20 km wide. It is a tropical paradise with secluded beaches, clear mountain rivers, and steep cliffs. Some of the key sights on the peninsula are Las Terrenas, the bustling center on the north coast, Salto El Limon, a waterfall that is only accessible by a 2.5 km journey through thick forest on horseback or on foot, and Cayo Levantado, a small, picturesque island with brilliant white sand and palm fringed beaches.
