Pula

Pula is a historic city located in the Istria region of Croatia, on the northern part of the Adriatic Sea. It is renowned for its well-preserved Roman architecture, most notably the Pula Arena (Pula Arena or Amphitheatre), which is one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheaters in the world. Built in the 1st century AD, the theater could accommodate around 20,000 spectators and was used for various events, including gladiator contests and chariot races. Today, it hosts cultural events and concerts.

In addition to the Arena, Pula boasts several other Roman remains, including the Temple of Augustus, Arch of the Sergii, and the Twin Gates. Pula also features a network of fortifications and city walls that were built over the centuries to protect the city from invasions. The Venetian Fortress is one of the prominent fortifications worth visiting.

Finally, Pula offers beautiful beaches along its coastline including Verudela Beach, Gortan Cove, and Kamenjak National Park, and a variety of restaurants and cafes where you can savor traditional Istrian dishes, including truffle-based dishes, seafood, and local wines.
