Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik is a historic coastal city located in the southern part of Croatia, along the Adriatic Sea. It is often referred to as the “Pearl of the Adriatic” due to its stunning beauty, rich history, well-preserved medieval architecture, cultural heritage, vibrant atmosphere, and captivating coastal setting.

The heart of Dubrovnik is the beautifully preserved Old Town (Stari Grad), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enclosed within impressive stone walls, the Old Town is a maze of narrow cobblestone streets, historic buildings, churches, and squares. Notable attractions within the Old Town include:
• The City Walls: Walk along the medieval walls for panoramic views of the city and the Adriatic Sea
• Stradun (Placa): The main street of the Old Town is a bustling promenade lined with shops, restaurants, and cafes
• The Rector’s Palace: Once the seat of the Republic of Ragusa, it now houses a museum
• The Sponza Palace: This Gothic-Renaissance palace is home to the Dubrovnik State Archives

Other key sights in the city include:
• The Fortresses and Defensive Walls: Dubrovnik’s fortifications, including Fort Lovrijenac and Fort Bokar, are well-preserved and offer fantastic views of the city and the sea. The city walls, which date back to the 13th century, can be walked and explored
• Dubrovnik Cathedral: A Baroque-style cathedral with an impressive treasury
• Beautiful Beaches: Dubrovnik has several beaches in and around the city, including Banje Beach and Copacabana Beach, where visitors can enjoy swimming and water sports.
• The surrounding islands: Dubrovnik serves as a gateway to several nearby islands, such as Lokrum and the Elafiti Islands. These islands are perfect for day trips, offering natural beauty and cultural attractions

Dubrovnik gained international fame as a filming location for the popular TV series “Game of Thrones.” Many fans visit to see the real-life locations that served as settings for King’s Landing. Visitors also take time to enjoy the city’s diverse culinary scene, and the many boat tours along the Dubrovnik coastline which explore hidden coves and caves and offer stunning views of the city from the water.
