Valparaiso

Valparaiso is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its unique architecture, vibrant street art, historical significance, and picturesque setting along the Pacific Ocean. The city served as a crucial port in the trade routes between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans during the 19th and 20th centuries. However, the port’s use declined significantly after the opening of the Panama Canal, causing a decline in the city’s economy and population. Some of the key sights today include the numerous examples of spectacular street art, and one of the former residences of Pablo Neruda, the winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1971.
