Buenos Aires has been called “the Paris of South America,” because of its European influences and “the city that never sleeps” thanks to its cultural and night life all year around. Obelisco

The Obelisco is a national historic monument, and an icon of Buenos Aires. The 221 ft tall obelisk was erected in 1936 to commemorate the quadricentennial of the first foundation of the city. The monument has four windows at the top that can only be reached by a straight staircase of 206 steps.

Casa Rosada

The Casa Rosada, an iconic pink palatial building at the eastern end of the Plaza de Mayo, is the executive mansion and office of the President of Argentina. Unlike the White House in the US, the President does not reside here. The Presidential residence is the Quinta de Olivos, in the Olivos district.

La Boca

Located in the south-east of the city, near its old port, La Boca is a heavily Italian barrio (neighborhood) that is world-famous for El Caminito street, with its colorful houses, street artists and tango dancers, and the La Bombonera stadium, the home of the the Boca Juniors football club where Diego Maradona once played.

La Recoleta Cemetery

La Recoleta Cemetery is one of the most unusual cemeteries in the world with more than 6,400 graves, all above ground, and each one constructed in a unique architectural style with elaborate carvings and scroll-work. The most famous, and least impressive grave site is that of Eva Peron, the iconic first lady of Argentina.

Teatro Colón

The Teatro Colón (Columbus Theater) is the main opera house in Buenos Aires. Architecturally and acoustically it is considered to be among the top 5 opera houses in the world. Several famous artists have performed here including conductors like Leonard Bernstein and the legendary tenors, Plácido Domingo, José Carreras and Luciano Pavarotti.

Floralis Genérica

Floralis Genérica is a sculpture made of steel and aluminum that its architect once said "is a synthesis of all the flowers in the world" and symbolizes "a hope reborn every day." The sculpture's petals open every morning at 8 am and close at sunset. At night, the flower emanates a red glow from inside.

Puerto Madero

Puerto Madero is one of the most modern and upscale barrios in Buenos Aires with sleek skyscrapers, a variety of restaurants, high-value apartments, and the famous Puente de La Mujer, an iconic pedestrian only suspension bridge across the Rio de la Plata, that rotates 90 degrees to allow ships to pass.

Tigre Delta

Covering over 5,405 square miles, the Tigre Delta is among the largest in the world, and is one of the only major deltas that does not empty into a sea or ocean, flowing instead into the Río de la Plata, which separates Argentina and Uruguay. All the houses in the area are built on islands.
