Plitvice National Park

Plitvice Lakes National Park (Nacionalni park Plitvička jezera) is one of Croatia's most famous and breathtaking natural attractions. It is renowned for its series of interconnected lakes and waterfalls and pristine forests that are inhabited by deer, bears, wolves, and various bird species.

The park is divided into two main sections, the Upper Lakes (Gornja jezera) and the Lower Lakes (Donja jezera). Across the two sections, there are 16 crystalline lakes arranged in cascading terraces, connected by a network of cascading waterfalls. The lakes are known for their striking
blue and green colors, which are the result of mineral deposits and algae in the water. Visitors can explore the Upper and Lower Lakes via a network of wooden walkways and trails that wind their way through the park, or choose from a variety of hiking trails, ranging from easy strolls to more challenging hikes. In addition to walking, visitors can take boat rides on some of the lakes. These boat trips provide a different perspective of the lakes and waterfalls.

Plitvice Lakes National Park also offers a range of accommodation, including hotels and lodges within the park and in nearby villages. Staying overnight allows visitors to experience the park's beauty at different times of the day when it's less crowded. While the park is stunning year-round, Spring and summer are the most popular times to visit, as the waterfalls are at their fullest. Autumn brings vibrant foliage to the park, while winter transforms the park into a snowy wonderland.
