Great Barrier Reef, Queensland
The Great Barrier Reef is the largest reef in the world, a UNESCO site, one of the seven wonders of the world, and is known as “the most pristine reefs in the world”. Located off the east coast of Queensland, the Great Barrier Reef is in fact almost 3000 individual reefs and almost 900 islands covering a vast 344,400 square kilometers. The reef is thought to be between 6000 and 8000 years old and is home to 1500 different species of fish – making it one of the world’s best diving and snorkeling locations. Approximately two million people visit the Great Barrier Reef every year!
