With a seating capacity of around 80 thousand, it is among the largest stadiums in Europe and the largest one in Italy itself. The stadium is officially named the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, after a player who played for Milan in the 1920s, 30s, and 40s and won two world cups.
The stadium has hosted multiple FIFA world cup games and European Cup Finals. It will also host the opening ceremony for the Winter Olympics in 2026.
