Anchorage, Southcentral Alaska

Home to around 300,000 residents, Anchorage is Alaska’s largest city, a popular all-year round destination for tourists, and an important refueling stop for cargo flights, as it is about 10 hour away by air from nearly 90% of the industrialized world. Located between the Chugach Mountains and the Cook Inlet, within Denaʼina Ełnena, on the traditional homelands of the Dena’ina Athabascan people, the city is known for its wild Alaskan beauty, cultural sites, including the Alaska Native Heritage Center and the Alaska Native village of Eklutna, a wide range of outdoor activities like hiking, camping, mountain biking, water sports and winter sports, and luxury hotels, fine cuisine and shopping.

Anchorage is also the gateway to much of Southcentral Alaska including key sights like the Kenai Peninsula and Kenai Fjords National Park, the Copper River Valley and Kennecott Mines National Historic Landmark, the Mat-Su Valley, and Prince William Sound. There are also several flight-seeing tours to Denali National Park that depart from Anchorage.
